Games start after the Victoria day long weekend. Team coaches will be in contact with players and their families by mid April. Please refer to our "news page on our website! Games are usually played weekly, however may be necessary to play more than once
or twice a week due to changes in schedule. Again, ensure that you frequent the
website for up to date information on scheduled games. Back to TopHow far do we typically travel for our games?On average, all games are played within Simcoe County with the exception being Beaver Valley and Mansfield. Back to TopThis is my child's first experience playing baseball. What can we expect?The Stayner Minor Baseball Association is strictly a house league centre which is part of South Simcoe Minor Baseball Association. We encourage fair play as we strive to teach our youth the fundamentals of baseball. Please refer to our mission statement Stayner Minor Baseball Association's Mission Statement. T-Ball: Children hit from a tee and are taught the basics of holding a bat, catching, throwing the ball and running the bases. Jr. Rookie: Children are introduced to the pitching machine. Ball is fed by the teams coach. Machine usually runs between 30 and 35 MPH. Children are taught the basic fundamentals of baseball -how to bat, catch, and where to make the play. Sr. Rookie: Children continue with the pitching machine. Ball is fed by the teams coach. Machine usually runs between 32 and 40 MPH. Children are taught the basic fundamentals of baseball - how to bat, catch, and where to make the play. Tyke: Children now begin to pitch. A pitcher pitches the ball to the opposing team. The fundamentals of baseball are taught. Pee-Wee To Midget: Players continue to learn and enjoy the game of baseball.
Back to TopWhat if my child is injured during a game or practice?All children who are registered with Stayner Minor Baseball are insured through South Simcoe Minor Baseball Association, Please note that it is imperative that players not registered with Stayner Minor Baseball are NOT permitted on the field either during practices or games. If a refund is requested due to injury, please understand
that a full refund may not be forthcoming due to registration fees paid to South
Simcoe Minor Baseball, however the executive will consider on case by case
basis. Back to TopWhat happens if my child cannot attend a game or practice?You are asked to always inform your coaching staff if you
are unable to attend games or practices. Back to TopCan I drop off my child at practices or games?We the executive recommend that all children under tyke division be accompanied by an adult. However, if you cannot attend with your child, please advise the coaching staff before the start of the game or practice. Please ensure that all HEATLH STATUS FORMS are completed
before your teams first game. The team coaching staff will advise when forms are
to be submitted.. Back to TopAre Bond Hours required?No bond hours required, however, we encourage players and their families to participate in upcoming fundraisers in order to keep SMBA costs down. Back to TopHow can I volunteer?Please contact the executive if you are interested in volunteering or if you have a suggestion for fundraising. Please note all positions on the executive become available at our annual General Meeting in the fall. See our news page on our website for updates. Please note that all interested individuals must complete the umpire clinic course.
